My first thought was you could have lost the second set of railings in the top left but when I took them out it did not work. The balance of the composition is excellent.

thanks, si. my first instinct was to crop out the second railing as well. but the balance didnt look right to me either. and, the second set accentuates the true scale of the staircase.
